I figured something out today
At home I have a D-link DIR-635 broadband router and after a check in the admin panel it said there was a new firmware (2.30EU) available so I started to research a little about the new firmware.
It took me a long time browsing the Taiwan website to get some information about the firmware but it was pretty limited.
I remember that I saw part of their press release that they were going to start enabling the routers to function with SharePort but my router was not listed. So I installed the new firmware with the belief that it was just a lot of bug-fixes. After a check in the admin there was an USB settings menu and I was surprised that is was enabled. So now I can connect a USB drive or printer even a 3G USB-modem.
